LESSON 22: GENRE 2


The lesson delved into the element of genre - specifically not the rather superficial ideas of iconography or stylistics but the deeper issues of meaning and ideologies conveyed by the narrative concerns of each genre.

some of us got involved in discussion of SE7EN [my fault; it's so engrossing] but it did lead to some useful recognition from those who have seen it as to the theory of the lesson. for those who have not yet seen the film, the title clip gives some indication as to how the genre and the theme of good and evil are tackled [darkly; distuirbingly]

LESSON 21: ADVERTISING SPEND

Today we are extending the idea of synergy - the linking of acquired knowledge to construct 'new' learning. The idea is to explore how expanding media events can be used to apply theoretical ideas to generate examples for section B of the examination and to analyse developing media trends.

this session moves our focus from the OFCOM survey looked at in L20 to explore supporting details as to the changing face of media activity by institutions and consumers.
